|
HISTORY In 2007, Wyoming Machinery Company celebrated its 38th anniversary. The company was originally established in Casper, Wyoming in 1969 and shortly thereafter we opened our Cheyenne facility in 1972. By 1976 business had increased rapidly and we soon moved to our new, larger facility at 5300 West Old Yellowstone Highway in Casper. To better answer the needs of our mining and mineral customers we opened our Gillette location in 1978. In addition to our main service facilities we have resident field service technicians located throughout Wyoming. |
|
More than half of the company's employees work in Casper staffing the welding, track and chassis shop as well as our award-winning Component Rebuild Center (CRC). The company's second-largest facility is in Gillette and is currently under going a major expansion (see below for details). Our Cheyenne branch recently opened a new facility to better service not only the increased on-highway truck industry but the expanding needs of the South-East Wyoming's booming construction market. All three facilitys are open six days a week and offer a full line of Caterpillar equipment, parts and service.
In 2002, the company marked a milestone in our history with the grand opening of the Component Rebuild Center (CRC). The facility immediately won accolades from Caterpillar as well as local community and industry leaders. In June of 2003, Wyoming Machinery Company's CRC became the first facility in the Western region to achieve Caterpillar's highest contamination control rating. A team from North American Commercial Division (NACD) awarded the facility with a five-star rating based on areas like machine cleanliness, methods and timeliness of oil clean-up and procedures to wash all components before they enter the shop.
INDUSTRIES SERVED Wyoming Machinery Company supports three of Wyoming’s major industries - mining, construction, and oil & gas in addition to many others. Each of our three branches focuses on one or more of these industries. The Casper facility serves the markets for mining, petroleum, on-highway trucks, construction, and governmental. The Gillette branch supports the mining, petroleum and heavy construction industries. And at the Cheyenne branch, where our new larger facility recently opened, the focus is on-highway trucks and general construction.

Component Rebuild Center - Casper, WY 2007 |
One industry of great importance to Wyoming Machinery Company is oil and gas. The 1970s were a decade of rapid growth for Wyoming Machinery Company, taking advantage of the uranium and oil booms. The bust of these two industries in the early 1980's left the company with half of its peak sales and people. The last several years has shown a reemergance in petroleum, construction, mining and governmental projects and Wyoming Machinery Company is busier than ever serving customers with increased sales, service and support in all major areas.
PRODUCTS AND SERVICES Wyoming Machinery Company is the premiere Caterpillar Dealer in Wyoming and we offer the complete line of Caterpillar equipment. In addition to equipment sales we offer an extensive fleet of used machines for sale or rent. Ground is cleared and supports are driven in preparation for the major expansion in Gillette.
|
THE FUTURE In June of 2008 Wyoming Machinery Company broke ground on a planned 166,000 ft2 expansion to our Gillette location. Business has grown rapidly in Gillette and we have reached the limit (plus some) for available work bays and parts storage. Our current facilities have been in use since 1978 and have served the local mining, mineral and construction industries for nearly 30 years. Wyoming has grown and new business has evolved with it so we must expand to meet customer demand.
The new structure will be especially suited to handle the oversized equipment our Gillette mining customers operate including the largest haul trucks and dozers. Similar to the CRC in Casper, the new Gillette facility will offer extensive rebuild capabilities and extended technical services for our customers. |
|
The planned expansion will be added to the south of the current building. The new building will contain an additional 84,000 ft2 of warehouse space, 70,000 ft2 service area, 16,000 ft2 additional office and support space and a 7,300 ft2 wash bay. We offer more products, services and support to a more diverse group than ever before. We continue to meet and exceed the challenges of our markets by staying committed to our goal of serving each customer to the absolute best of our ability in an effort to insure they will want to do business with us again and again. We continue to maintain the values that made us what we are today: Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork and Commitment. |
